The soling on moccasins can be glued on or sewn on. It is primarily the material the touches the ground, but also can include a 'cushion' between you and the soling.
Conveyor Belt - Sewn on soling, made of actual conveyor belting. Very durable. Also known as 'barefoot without pain'. Can be like velcro in that it picks up stuff. The original designers of this style moccasin used conveyor belt soling. It is usually a rusty orange color, although sometimes we have other colors available.
Vibram - A company that makes a wide variety of soling. Most of the soling we use is made by Vibram.
Spikeless Golf - A very durable Vibram soling, dense, good traction, long wearing, glued on.
Olivia - A soft Vibram sheet soling, good traction, lasts one to three years, not appropriate for folks of larger size or hard walkers.
NewFlex - A thicker Vibram soling of medium density, comfortable, good traction, nice if you want the cushion without adding a cushi midsole.
Kletterlift - The traditional 'hiking boot' sole, or what some folks call a 'vibram' sole (made by Vibram). Very dense, great traction, aggressive (where you put your foot your foot stays), not necessarily for dancing if you like to move your feet, years of wear. We do suggest that you also have a layer of thin cushi midsole with the Kletterlift, as the density makes it a hard surface to walk on.
Cushi - This is a layer that is glued in between the boot and the soling. It is meant to cushion your knees and hips, great if you have issues, or if you are a 'hard' walker. It comes in a variety of thickness'. I primarily use the 1/4 inch and the 3/8 inch, also known in my world as 'thin' or 'thick' cushi.

There are many different types of soling to choose from, many of which come from the Vibram Company. Shown here are the main two 'sheet' solings that I offer. On the left is the Spikeless Golf or Sport Utility by Vibram. It is the most durable sheet soling I offer. It is nice because it has good traction, is durable - long lasting, and doesn't pick up too much dirt. On the right is the NewFlex by Vibram. This is a bit thicker and softer, which is nice if you don't want to add the height and thickness of the cushi midsole. Both of these soles can be worn by folks of any size. Both of these soles come with your footwear, for no extra charge.
Soling also comes in 'plate' form. I order these plate soles in a variety of shapes, then cut them to your size. Sometimes people's feet don't fit on the plate soles, so I need to use the 'sheet' soling. Plate soling is an extra charge, and some of them require cushi midsole. I have put up photos of these 'plate' soles shown from both directions so that you can see the height of the heels.
All the soling shown here is made by the Vibram company.
Starting from the left -
Ripple - A very aggressive heavy soling.
Vibram 'Newsole #1' (what I am calling it...) - A very thin plate sole, flexible and durable.
Gumlite - A softer plate sole, with a small heel, and a break in the pattern at the arch area.
Kletterlift with break - This is a very aggressive (where you put your feet your feet stay) sole. The break in the heel at the arch creates a small heel. Nice for bike riders. Requires cushi midsole for support.
Full Kletterlift - Again, very aggressive, very durable. Preston, the amazing cobbler in town, says - it's like putting fabric over a rock. Your tops may wear out before the bottoms! This one also requires cushi midsole for support.
See previous photo of plate soles for descriptions. This is shown so that you can see the height of the heels.
The Conveyor Belt Soling is one of your choices in soling. This is actual conveyor belting - we buy mill ends, and it is sewn onto your boots. Conveyor belt is long lasting - maybe seven to ten years. Resoling requires cutting the tops from the bottoms, creating a new bottom, and sewing them back together. Conveyor belt soling is like being barefoot without the pain. Drawbacks include that the soling picks up everything. Excellent for those woods-walkers who like to walk quietly.
