My nephew Ryan's new boots! Sand three button moccasins, with tobacco buffalo natural edge trim, burnt cork deerskin natural edge flap, and antler barrel buttons. Ryan's moccasins are soled in leather so that they are authentic to what the Mountain Men would have worn. What fun to have helpers in the shop!
Redwood Buffalo Three Button Moccasins, with Creme Flower Trim, going around leg, Natural Top Edge, Silver QuickSilver Hawk Buttons, Cushi, Spikeless Golf Vibram Sole, Orthodic Inserts.
Four Button Moccasin, Chocolate Buffalo Hide, Redwood Button Trim - Points Pattern, Redwood Deerskin Top Welt, Buffalo/Indian Head Nickel Buttons, Spikeless Golf Vibram Soling
This moccasin I call a 'slipper boot'. It is made from a 3-4 ounce Buffalo Hide, instead of the usual 8-9 ounce thickness. (White Buffalo only comes in the thinner hide.) The simplicity in this design is sweet - straight button trim draws the attention to the white antler crown buttons. A simple top welt in white deerskin finishes off the slipper boot.
Three button tobacco bullhide moccasins, natural edge tobacco button trim, with tobacco toe caps. The buttons are hand carved bone from Bali, dyed with strong coffee.
Annette is a lover and wearer of moccasins from way back! She caught sight of Brother John's shoes and made the call! Here are her beautifully designed 3 button moccasins. They are made from chocolate buffalo hide, with redwood buffalo natural edge button trim, and natural edge gold deerskin underlay. A chocolate deerskin top welt, a gold OM inset, and the brass QuickSilverMint buttons finish them off. Something unique here, is that the gold deerskin comes from Annette's own collection. Nice!
Sherry is a happy walker in her new three button moccasins! These are made from tobacco bullhide, with purple points and curves button trim. She added two underlays - the first in blue at 1/4 inch wide, and the second 1/8 inch underlay in turquoise deerskin. The top welt is forest green deerskin. You can get a closer look at the art on the inside of the boots in the 'It's an Art Thang' section. Sherry had a dragon bead she bought in China that we used on one boot, and then the rest of the buttons are polished antler sidecuts in the medium dye. Her soling choice was the thin cushi midsole, and the Spikeless Golf Vibram soling. Off she goes!
Creativity is one of the sparks that help us to feel alive. Sherry designed her boots with a tree growing up the inside of the right leg, and a river flowing between boulders along the inside of the left boot. And it all worked out so nicely.
